What Is Dead Rails?

Dead Rails is a Roblox game set in 1899. A zombie virus has spread across America, and the cure is in Mexico. You ride a train through a desert filled with zombies, outlaws, and wolves to reach that cure.

It was created by its developer (often called the “Dead Rails Dev Team”) on January 1, 2025, and the game was last updated on February 19, 2025.

How Do You Play Dead Rails?

You gather fuel (like coal or even zombie bodies) to keep your train moving. You can search buildings for guns, ammo, and healing items. At night, more enemies appear, so plan carefully. Working with friends makes it easier, but you can also play alone.

How Long Does It Last?

There’s no strict time limit. Some people might finish in around 30 minutes if they rush, but others explore for longer. It depends on how often you stop, gather fuel, and fight enemies.

Key Function

W Move forward
S Move backward
D Move right
E Interact with objects (open doors, pick up items, etc.)
Z Wield or unwield an item you are dragging
LMB Grab/drag items or fire a weapon (depending on what you’re holding)
Movement (W, A, S, D): Use these keys to walk around the desert, explore buildings, and board your train.
Interaction (E): Press “E” to pick up items, enter doors, or confirm actions on-screen.
Wielding (Z): If you’re dragging something (like a board or turret), press “Z” to attach or remove it from your hands.
LMB (Left Mouse Button): Click to grab and drag an item, or to shoot/attack when a weapon is equipped.
